Here’s all-new Apple Music redesign from the ground up

June 13, 2016 by macjeff

The beautiful new design language in a revamped Apple Music is now a reality. According to Apple, the first tab within the app is now Library that gives you quick access to your songs as well as your downloaded music. A new Recently Added section makes it easy to pinpoint new songs and albums you’ve added to your library. Apple Music now has inline lyrics, which is pretty awesome.

The top of the For You tab now has a Discovery mix, a Recently Played playlist, a daily curated playlist in an obvious shot at Spotify and more. Content from the Connect tab is now integrated within the For You tab rather than live in its own tab. What do you guys think so far? Are you liking the new look for Apple Music? Does it feel rushed a bit? I’m still torn… Source link: http://www.idownloadblog.com/2016/06/13/heres-all-new-apple-music-redesign-from-the-ground-up/

New in iOS 10’s Photos: Maps view, Memories, facial recognition

June 13, 2016 by macjeff

Photos in iOS 10 is receiving a major upgrade with several major new features and a few noteworthy improvements. For starters, Photos in iOS 10 has a dedicated Maps view similar to iPhoto for Mac which lets you browse your photos on a world map, based on where you took them. More importantly, Photos now features facial, object and scene recognition that uses advanced computer vision and deep learning techniques to recognize objects on photos locally on the device, taking advantage of the power of Apple’s A-series of processors. Because the photos are examined locally on the device rather than on Apple’s servers, your privacy is assured. Apple says that iOS 10 performs a whopping eleven billion computations per photo to recognize faces, objects and scenes. Another new feature in Photos for iOS 10: Memories. Taking advantage of advanced artificial intelligence which scans your entire Photos library to cluster together the photos that might make sense to you, Memories can surface trips that might be relevant, photographs relevant to last week or last month, pictures of people that are special to you, topics like the beaches, mountains and so forth. The new facial recognition in Photos in iOS 10, along with object and scene recognition, also works on the Mac and the new Apple TV. How do you like iOS 10’s much improved Photos app thus far? AZZL , Giflay - GIF Viewer , DADA Trains and more

iPhone:

Flip Clock - Weather Alarm Clock and Nightstand for iPhone ( $2.99 → FREE )

It pulls images from Flickr that correspond with your weather or part of the day. If you have your own Flickr account, you can have it use those images instead. The app also boldly displays the time, date, current temp, highs and lows for the day, and a five-day forecast. You can collapse the display to get a better view of the beautiful images with a tap. The app also includes repeating alarms, the ability to dim the screen with a swipe, and relaxing built-in sounds to help you fall asleep.

Jotalicious ( $0.99 → FREE )

Jotalicious allows you to create lists just like you’re jotting down notes. The first line you type will turn into your list name. Each additional line will be an item on that list. The best part is, you don’t even have to type out your lists. You can dictate items on your list by saying an item name and “New Line” after each item. It really speeds up the process. Jotalicious also allows you to attach amounts to items, define the store the item is located at, and categorize items.

Universal:

AZZL ( $2.99 → FREE )

AZZL doesn’t require much explaining. All you need to do is tap and drag animated puzzle pieces around the screen in order to put scenes back together. Once completed, you’ll be able to view the entire cartoon scene. The whole experience is perfectly crafted, so just jump in and enjoy.

Giflay - GIF Viewer ( $1.99 → FREE )

Giflay is all about simplicity. It automatically grabs all of the GIFs from your photo library and presents them in a large scrollable grid. GIFs can be imported from your computer over Wi-Fi as well. You’re able to play GIFs, zoom in, and view them frame-by-frame. Your GIFs can also be gathered into albums and passcode protected. The app also includes eight color themes, the ability to open GIFs in other apps, and the ability to share GIFs.

DADA Trains ( $2.99 → FREE )

DADA Trains includes five different activities with one common theme: trains! Your child will be able to see how steam locomotives work, design their own locomotive, make their way through a variety of environments, play conductor, and simply paint on a canvas.
