Codex, Findr, Hutch and other apps to check out this weekend

February 04, 2017 by RSS Feed

This week’s edition of our Apps of the Week roundup includes some great selections such as a beautiful scanning app, an app for finding out what kind of personal info about you is on the web, and an app that helps you redecorate. And as always, we have some great new games for you to check out.

Codex

Codex is a simple, beautiful scanning app that allows you to hashtag, backup and share your scans and photos. It features an easy-to-use scanner that lets you live-crop with a single finger, edge detection tech, support for a variety of media, PDF export via email and much more. There’s a monthly subscription fee of $0.99 (or $9.99 annually), but you do get a 30-day free trial. This looks like a solid Evernote alternative depending on which features you need. Codex is available for free.

Findr

This is kind of interesting. Have you ever wondered if your personal information online is easily accessible by others? Findr can help you figure it out. The app scans the web, finds all of your personal information and shows you the results. Just type in your email address and let it go to work. Results were kind of hit-and-miss for me, but it’s still a fun little experiment to try out. Findr is available for free.

Hutch

Hutch transforms your space from before to after, faster than ever. Just open the app and take a photo of your room, pick one of their custom styles, and get a design back of your actual space. This gives you the opportunity to try something new without all of the heavy lifting and grueling task of furniture shopping. Ultimately Hutch is a shopping client, and I can’t really speak on the prices or furniture. but the app itself is pretty interesting. Hutch is available for free.

Arcane Quest HD

Were you a fan of the original Arcane Quest that released back in 2012? You’re going to want to check out this new HD version. It features 8 legendary heroes classes to choose from, over 50 quests, tons of equipment and spells options and a quest editor that lets you create and publish your own adventures. Plus, there is no unlockable IAP content. Arcane Quest HD is available for free.

GlitchSkier

Glitchskier is the new action game by Shelly Alon, the developer who brought you Partyrs and Sputnik Eyes. It features intense action, boss fights, new game systems, handcrafted effects, extraordinary music and unique looks. The game UI is chock-full of nostalgia, from its resemblance to the Windows 3.1 GUI to the computer errors. It’s not going to be for everyone, but if it interests you even a little bit, the early reviews say it’s more than worth trying. GlitchSkier is available for $1.99.
