ChatGPT Atlas Is a Mac-Only Browser from OpenAI

ChatGPT Atlas Is a Mac-Only Browser from OpenAI

October 21, 2025 by RSS Feed

If you’re ready to ditch Apple’s Safari or Google Chrome, OpenAI has a new alternative with ChatGPT Atlas.

As you might expect, the browser is an easy way to access ChatGPT.

One of the best features is the Ask ChatGPT feature. Selecting that will allow direct ChatGPT access, via a sidebar, without going to the AI’s site or Mac app.

A tab page is the starting point in the app. You can ask a question to ChatGPT or enter a URL. In the same page, you can also select tabs for search links, images, videos, and news.

The browser can remember exactly what you’ve explored while also suggesting what to do next like digging deeper into a topic. That memory is private to your account and can be archived or completely deleted.

Subscribers to the Plus, Pro, and Business tiers can also use the ChatGPT agent inside the browser. That will take care of tasks for you. For example, if you have a specific recipe in mind for dinner you can have the agent find a grocery store, add the ingredients to your car, and then send them to your home.

You can download the Mac browser here. OpenAI has promised that it will eventually come to other platforms, including iOS.
