Bvddy, Radar, WalletHub and other apps to check out this weekend

June 25, 2016 by macjeff

In this week’s installment of our Apps of the Week roundup, we’ve put together a list of unique apps and great games for you to check out over the weekend. Looking for a gym partner or tennis buddy? Bvddy can help. Going on vacation soon? Grab Radar for tips on the best places to visit. Keep reading for the full rundown.

Bvddy

Bvddy helps you discover new friends that play the sports you love. It’s kind of like Tinder for sports partners. So are you looking for a tennis buddy? Someone to run or do yoga with? A fellow gym rat? Bvddy will take your interest and skill level and find the perfect match. Then you can chat with them to coordinate your meeting, and locate nearby venues like yoga studios and soccer fields. Finally there is a review system to help weed out the bad sports. Bvddy is available for free.

Radar – Travel Smart

Radar is a new app from Yahoo that delivers personalized recommendations of sights to see, activities to try and restaurants to visit when you’re on vacation. The app sort of acts like a smart travel guide, with data sourced from several trusted websites across the web. You can filter recommendations based on individual preferences and time of year, create your own bucket list, view your itineraries, and get need-to-know tips from other travelers who have been there. This app is available for free.

WalletHub

WalletHub sells itself as the “first and only app” to offer 100% free credit scores with full reports that are updated daily. The app uses TransUnion for its reporting, and even offers 24/7 credit monitoring to warn you of identity theft and fraud. Plus you’ll get customized credit-improvement tips and personalized savings alerts. I know there are a bunch of these services out there, most notably Credit Karma, but WalletHub may be worth a try. Setup is easy, and the app is secure and well-designed. This app is available for free.

Twilight Struggle Mobile

The #1 rated strategy board game comes to iOS. Twilight Struggle puts the player at the center of the Cold War, the political and economic struggle between the U.S. and the U.S.S.R that spanned 5 decades from the 1950’s to the 1990’s. You control one of the two modern superpowers, as they work to spread their dominance throughout the world via political influence and coup attempts. But if either side triggers nuclear war, it’s game over! This game is iPad-only, and is available for $7.99.

Rodeo Stampede – Sky Zoo Safari

Saddle up and get ready to wrassle with the stampede-iest critters this side of the Savannah, in Rodeo Stampede. Lions and Tigers and Bears are no match for this rodeo star. Armed with a lasso and a ten gallon hat, swing from the backs of stampeding buffalo, elephants, ostrich, alligators, and more. When the stampede’s over, the zoo begins! Fill enclosures with your four-footed friends and let your patrons gaze in wonder. This is one wild ride that you don’t want to miss. This game is available for free.
