Modern Labyrinth is casual gaming at its best. It doesn’t have a ton of bells and whistles. Just launch the game and get rolling. As with all labyrinth games, your job is to avoid falling down the wrong hole on your way to the highlighted one by tilting your iDevice. Try to move quickly and achieve the best time possible. The game includes 36 levels.
A Noble Circle is from the creator of A Dark Room and The Ensign. If you’ve played those games, you’ll have a better idea of what to expect from A Noble Circle. If not, you have to try it anyway. On the surface it’s a high score game that has you moving a circle higher and higher with taps. But as you progress, a rather unique story will unfold right before your eyes.
Your child is able to explore the sea by tapping and dragging Tiggly and his submarine around. When they come across a character, they can latch on to an anchor point and start creating short words. There’s no wrong way to play. Just explore and create.
Your child is presented with two consonants that sit at the bottom of the screen with a space in the middle. They get to pick any vowel they wish from the top of the screen to create a word. If the word is valid, an object, person, or animal will appear. If it’s invalid, it will be ejected from the screen. When they’re done generating words, they can use any or all of them to create an animated story.
Blurify is remarkably easy to use yet its results are unmatched. It’s the weekend again, and you know what that means. That’s right! It’s time for another Apps of the Week roundup. This week we have some great selections, including an app for easily ordering same-day gifts, a great new chart and graph-maker, and an app for creating awesome lip-sync videos.
Here’s a cool idea: Spoil is the easiest way to send same-day gifts anywhere in the US. I think the service has been around for a while, but just recently launched its mobile app. Anyway, the point is that within a few taps you can order a wide variety of gifts including candles, cupcakes, flowers, stuffed animals, and even hand-written notes and have them delivered that day. If nothing else, tuck this app away for a rainy day. Spoil is available for free.
There are two ingredients to a great presentation: a powerful storyline and the data to back it up. Meet Chartistic, the app that allows you to create great interactive charts on the go. It comes with an assortment of bar, line, area and pie charts, and has a unique data-powered clipart visualizer that is sure to drive your points home. Create the perfect chart in minutes, export as an image and embed it into your emails, tweets, documents, and more. Chartistic is available for free.
Here’s another kind of cool concept: Serial Box Publishing. Serials are like books, but more fun! You can read or listen to weekly episodes by best-selling writers. Serials run for 13 weeks, with new episodes released each Wednesday, and last around 40 minutes. The Serial folks believe that reading should be as convenient and captivating as the best TV shows. The downside: first episodes are free, but beyond that each one costs money. And the pricing is rather steep. This app is available for free.
Now you can join in on the fun seen on the popular TV show Lip Sync Battle. The official app allows you to lip-sync along to your favorite songs and record awesome videos that you can share with friends. Choose your song from a library of hits from major artists, add a mask and other props, record your video, add fun post production effects and filters, and share your creation within the app, via social media or even via text. You can also vote on your favorite performances and participate in contests. Lip Sync Battle is available for free.
If you really want to like chess, but the lack of chaos turns you off, this game is for you. Really Bad Chess is very similar to the age-old classic, but the twist is: you get totally random pieces. So you may end up with 8 Knights, 4 Bishops and only 3 Pans. Crazy, right? The game includes an AI mode, a Freeplay mode, and Daily and Weekly challenges. A single in-app purchase removes ads, displays captured pieces and lets you choose alternate colors. Really Bad Chess is available for free.

Briefcase Pro can do it all. Files can be imported from cloud services including Dropbox, SkyDrive, Box, and GoogleDrive. You can also pull files in from your photo library, email, or your computer via Wi-Fi or iTunes File Sharing. Files can be viewed, played back, favorited, categorized, search for, and uploaded back to the cloud. You’re able to create your own TXT files as well. And, if you’re worried about document security, you can activate Touch ID or utilize a passcode.
The app includes randomly generated content, so your child shouldn't tire of Millie. And really, how could they? She's an adorable puppy. The app also includes 40 real life videos of Millie in action, hidden items to discover, narration, and more.
Ready to knock on more doors? Millie is! Something new to discover is hidden on every page. You and your child will be knocking on doors, watching Millie perform fantastic tricks, collecting virtual stickers, and so much more. The stickers that you collect can be used to create custom Halloween cards. The app includes 40 videos in total.
Today only: Unlock everything free of charge! Simply tap the “Unlock” button on the main screen, and enter the provided passcode to confirm your action. All current and future content will be available to you and your child free of charge. Various amounts of cards will appear on the screen face down. Your child can tap on them to reveal what’s on the flip side. They must then find all of the matching pairs of shapes and colors to complete each game. When tapped on, your child is able to hear the object or color pronounced. The app also includes a Show Me mode where the cards are all face up, making it easier to play.

Apple on Thursday updated its App of the Week promotion with the game Shadow Bug. This means that for the next 7 days you can pick up the popular platformer for free on both iPhone and iPad—a handsome savings of $4.
In Shadow Bug, you play an underdog ninja hero that must save your home forest from the evil factory by taking out monsters. The game has been praised for its mesmerizing, parallax graphics and breathtaking soundtrack.
From the App Store Editors’ Notes:
Shadow Bug may be tiny, but he’s got the skills and reflexes of a dozen full-grown ninjas. We adore this innovative mix of lightning-fast platformer and crafty puzzler. The only thing more satisfying than chaining together aerial attacks on evil beasts is sussing out the path to each level’s shining exit.
And here is a clip of the game in action:
