For anyone that might be in the market for a quick and easy gift (for themselves or someone else), eBay might have the perfect solution.
For an unknown amount of time, eBay is currently offering a 15% discount on a $100 iTunes Gift Card. So, instead of paying the full $100, you’ll only fork over $85. The online retailer says that almost 8,000 of the gift cards have been sold up to the point of publication, and notes that only a “limited number” are available, so you may want to act quickly to secure yours.
These types of deals, especially for gift cards related to iTunes or Apple’s App Stores, pop up all the time. But with a 15% discount, and with so much to pick up from iTunes in general, it’s certainly worth a second look.
Or, if you want to take advantage of Apple Music’s $99/year option, this could be a way to save some money on the annual subscription cost (plus, there’s always the chance this deal, or another similar one, pops up sometime next year, too) of the music streaming service.
If you do decide to pick up the iTunes Gift Card from eBay, the code for the card will be emailed to you. That should make redemption pretty easy, especially if you add the digital card to your Apple Wallet.
Who of you out there will take advantage of this deal from eBay? What is the last thing you purchased from iTunes? If you do buy the gift card, will you use it to pick up an Apple Music subscription for a year?

Laps - Fuse (Free) by QuickByte Games is a new kind of match-three puzzle game that’ll leave you spinning and craving more. If you enjoyed games like Threes! and 13 Thieves, then you will love the refreshing new gameplay that Laps - Fuse brings to the App Store.
I’ve been feeling a bit stressed out lately over different issues in my life, but I’ve always found video games help me unwind and relax. This is how it’s been for years, and I don’t see it stopping anytime soon. While I’ve gone through a ton of different genres of games throughout my lifetime, my favorite is definitely puzzle games, as they help me de-stress and keep my brain stimulated at the same time. While I’m not the best when it comes to numbers, I’ve enjoyed some numerical puzzle games in the past, such as Threes! and The Mesh. So when I saw Laps - Fuse on the App Store, I became intrigued by the concept, and not deterred away by the numbers.

13 Thieves
Space Inch, LLC
Visually, Laps - Fuse features a simple and clean design that feels elegant and minimal. The game is in 2-D, but because of the depth and texture of the circular board and rotating circle knobs, it feels more like 2.5-D. There’s a rich navy blue background that helps make the colored circles pop, and there are some fun bubbly effects that occur when matches happen. All animations in Laps - Fuse are buttery smooth and fluid, with no issues of lag on my iPhone 7. There’s also a soothing ambient soundtrack that is a pleasure to listen to, and the effervescent sound effects are just fun.
There are two game modes in Laps - Fuse. The Normal mode gives players a set amount of “laps” around a circle to make matches and merge numbers together. Once the last lap finishes up, then the round is over (unless you choose to continue by watching an ad) and your score gets tallied up. Your final score is determined by the number of matches you made, combos, and higher number values equal to more points.
Each round you play gets you experience points, and you’ll “level up” after getting enough to fill the gauge. When you advance in rank, normal mode receives more laps, giving you an opportunity to get better scores and have longer games. Once you reach level 12, you’ll unlock “Endless Mode.” In Endless, players will just match-and-merge until the board fills up and there’s no space for any more matches.
The Endless Mode can also be unlocked through an in-app purchase of $2.99.
As you play, it’s possible to earn a multiplier bonus for quick matches and merges. If you’re able to fill up the bar at the top before it disappears, then the multiplier increases. If you fail to do so, then it resets.
Controls in Laps - Fuse are simple and allow the game to be played entirely with one hand. It’s also a test of your hand-eye coordination, which I like. The gameplay is simple: a numbered, colored circle will rotate around the larger, circular grid with spots for the numbered pieces to go into. When you tap on the screen, that rotating circle launches in a line towards the center, and fills up a node.
You have to match three like-numbered circles together in order for it them to merge into the next number, which is always double the previous one. So it goes from 1 to 2, then 4, 8, 16, 32, 64, and so on. This number merging concept definitely reminds me of Threes!, but the circular matching mechanic makes it different enough to be worth checking out.
When matches get made in the game and combos happen quickly, then the highest value gets pulled towards the center, and you repeat the process. It’s a straightforward gameplay mechanic, but Laps - Fuse has high replay value, because you’ll have plenty of reason to come back and beat your score while leveling up.
Laps - Fuse is an interesting puzzle game because it combines several different puzzle mechanics into one addictive mashup. It’s a match-three bubble shooter with numbers and merging, all while chasing your high score. Not to mention that the game looks rather stylish, the music and sounds are quirky and fun, and the controls work out well. This is a perfect little game to help you kill some time, whether it’s minutes or hours.
I think having to reach level 12 to unlock Endless Mode is a bit high, and this requirement should definitely be lowered. It’s also rather annoying that even if you pay for the $2.99 IAP to get Endless Mode early, the game still has ads that you can voluntarily watch for continues or double experience. I would have thought that paying came with a premium experience, so I’m a bit disappointed to see that the IAP doesn’t eliminate ads entirely.
As someone who loves puzzles and interesting mashups, Laps - Fuse definitely fits the bill. The game has exquisite visuals and delightful sounds, and one-touch controls are simple to pick up but the gameplay is hard to master. There’s definite replay value here, so this is a title I’ll be coming back to time after time for a quick gaming fix.
I highly recommend giving Laps - Fuse a try if you haven’t already. You can find Laps - Fuse on the App Store as a universal download for your iPhone and iPad for free. There are in-app purchases.

Super Samurai Rampage ($1.99) by Brackish Games is an epic high score chaser hack-n-slash arcade game. If you’re in the mood for some mindless sword-slashing action, then Super Samurai Rampage is just the game for you. If games like Flipping Legend and Penarium, then Super Samurai Rampage is worth checking out.
When I was in high school, my friends got me into Japanese culture through anime and manga. Needless to say, stories of ninjas and samurais were fairly popular back then. I even collected a few replica swords myself. While it seems that ninjas and samurais have fallen on the back-burner lately, I’ve never lost interest, especially when it comes to action-packed mobile games. When I saw Super Samurai Rampage on the App Store, I knew that this was something I need to add to my game collection.
App Feels Like
Flipping Legend
Noodlecake Studios Inc
Penarium
Team17 Software, Limited
The visual style in Super Samurai Rampage is a great homage to the classic 16-bit games of yesteryear. While everything’s dressed up in a pixel art style, the game’s still incredibly detailed when it comes to the environments, backgrounds, and character sprites. The color palettes range from soft pastels (like in cherry blossom trees) to muted earth tones to gloomy dark hues and bright, vibrant shades to indicate powerful special attacks. Animations are smooth and fluid, with no lag on my iPhone 7. To top it all off, there’s a fitting Japanese war-style soundtrack that plays in the background to get players into the mood of samurai hack-n-slash action. The sound effects as you swing and slice up your foes is a nice touch too.
Since Super Samurai Rampage is an arcade high score chaser, there’s only one game mode, but three different stages. The other stages get unlocked by reaching a certain point threshold in the first area. Honestly, though, that’s all you need, and it’s perfect for those times when you just want to relieve some stress. The goal? Just kill as many enemies as you can before they get a hit in on you. While this sounds easy enough, it’s worth noting that you need to be careful when playing, because even the smallest mistake can cost your samurai his life.
Controls in Super Samurai Rampage are simple enough and rather intuitive. To attack (and move), just swipe horizontally on the screen. An upward swipe lets your samurai jump, and then you can swipe in the direction that you want to perform a midair attack. If you do a swipe-and-hold, that lets the samurai go into Focus Mode, where you can target foes better and the attack dash ends up covering slightly more ground. To get great scores in this game, you’ll have to be quick on your feet with attacks, rack up combos, and dodge enemy attacks.
Each round starts off easy with basic enemies that don’t pose much of a threat. However, as you make progress, tougher foes begin to appear, and their attacks will be stronger and more deadly, such as ranged lightning. It’s critical that you learn the various enemy types and their moves, so that you can dodge them in time and get revenge.
The point values for enemies will vary, depending on the type. Less threatening ones net you a point each, while stronger ones can get you much more. You’ll also earn more points for multi-kills (multiple kills with one attack). If you’re fast enough to get several kills quickly in a row, then you’ll get the multiplier for even more points. Once the multiplier gauge is full in the top right corner, you’ll enter Lightning Mode, where you can truly devastate many foes at once. However, reaching this ultimate form is easier said than done after all things considered.
Super Samurai Rampage is an excellent game to help one get rid of some stress. The graphics are a great homage and tribute to the classic games on SNES and Genesis. The music is true-to-theme, and the sound effects are rather realistic. Controls work well and are clearly designed for touch screens, so anyone can pick this up and get the hang of things after a few moments. And since this is an arcade high score chaser, the replay value is high, especially when there are multiple stages to unlock with different enemy types to master.
While the controls work well enough, there are times when my swipes didn’t seem to register correctly, resulting in an untimely demise. It could be that I did not swipe correctly, but I think that the controls could be even more optimized to prevent such mishaps.
I’ve only just started with Super Samurai Rampage, but I can tell that this is a title I’ll be returning to for quite some time. I get stressed out easily, so the fast-paced hack-n-slash action of Super Samurai Rampage is just what I need most of the time. As a child who grew up with pixelated games, I love the detailed art style and music. Controls are simple but take a bit of practice to master, and the gameplay mechanic is downright fun. And with the unlock method for the other stages, there’s plenty of reason for me to keep coming back to this game.
I highly recommend giving Super Samurai Rampage a try if you’re in the mood for a fun and action-packed samurai slasher. Super Samurai Rampage is available on the App Store as a universal download for your iPhone and iPad for just $1.99. There are no in-app purchases.
