Playnow, Taskcode 2, Broadcast, and other apps to check out this weekend

This week’s edition of our Apps of the Week roundup features an app for watching videos and listening to music together with your friends, a unique task manager, and a podcast client built for being social. And as always, we’ve selected two great new games for you to check out.

Playnow

Sharing videos is now a fluid experience with synchronized in-app video watching. No more crowding around phone screens or sharing links—watch a video live, in real-time within a chat of up to ten friends. In addition to videos, the app allows for simultaneous music listening across devices. Think about it, you can turn a room of iPhones into a stereo system. Just swipe right while texting your friends to find a video or song to be played in the chat across all devices. Yes this is one of those apps that you’ll have to convince your whole circle to start using to really give it value, but the social features here make it worth checking out. Playnow is available for free.

Taskcode 2

Oops I did it again—I included another todo list app in our roundup. This one is Taskcode, well technically Taskcode 2, a much-improved version 2 of the highly praised task manager. Features include a simple, minimal, code-like interface with custom fonts, dark and light themes, alerts, checkboxes, batch edit, tag labels, and much more. The app itself is free, but there is an in-app purchase for the premium upgrade that unlocks additional features. Taskcode 2 is available for free.

Broadcast

Remember a while back when one of your friends told you about an amazing podcast and from the first listen you where immediately hooked? Want to know what awesome show they’re listening to today? With Broadcast you can see what folks in your network are listening to, enabling you to find the best episodes from the best shows. Once you’ve found something you love, you can painlessly discuss and share it helping others in your network discover great stuff too. I know there are a lot of podcast episodes out there I’d love to discuss, but it’s tough to find other listeners and a platform to do it in. This seems like an interesting option. Broadcast is available for free.

Life is Strange

Glopy

Looking for a new and unique puzzle game to challenge your skills? Check out Glopy. As you can glean from the above screenshots, this isn’t your typical puzzler. You must solve each Glopy ball before moving onto the next level. Features include extra-ordinary game design, unique game mechanics, gyroscope physics control and support for the new iPhone X. There’s not much else to say here—you just have to play it to get it. Glopy is available for $1.
