Mono-Day, Follow Me Dragon, Camera-M, and other apps to check out this weekend

December 16, 2017 by RSS Feed

This week’s edition of our Apps of the Week roundup features a new beautiful, habit-forming task manager, a pet AR dragon, and a new camera app with manual controls. And as usual, we’ve selected two great new games for you to check out.

Mono-Day

As we near the end of 2017, a lot of you may be considering New Year’s resolutions for 2018. And if one of your resolutions is to get more done or be more productive, Mono-Day is worth checking out. Now I know the todo list category is already filled with options, but this app sticks out for a few reasons. First and foremost is its gorgeous, dark, iPhone X-compatible interface. It also has a slew of unique features like auto-hiding low priority tasks, one-swipe delaying of tasks, multiple expiration dates for tasks, and much more. Mono-Day is available for $2.99.

Follow Me Dragon

Looking for a little entertainment this weekend? Check out Follow Me Dragon. This augmented reality app uses Apple’s new ARKit platform to give you your very own pet dragon. His name is Drake and he breathes fire, does tricks, and follows you wherever you go. Make him as big as a building or as tiny as an ant, play with him, pick him up, take pics, customize his color and unlock new costumes. Obviously this is a little gimmick-y, but hey, what else are you doing this weekend? Follow Me Dragon is available for free.

Camera-M

In the market for a new and/or better camera app? Meet Camera-M. It does one thing and one thing exceptionally well—helps you take amazing photos with manual camera controls. This is another category that [I know] is way overcrowded, but what stood out in this app to me is the beautiful interface and long list of features. It has Focus Tracking with machine learning, exposure and white balance controls, 10x digital zoom, support for RAW, P3 and Live Photos formats. Camera-M is available $2.99.

FEZ Pocket Edition

Gomez is a 2D creature living in a 2D world. Or is he? When the existence of a mysterious 3rd dimension is revealed to him, Gomez is sent out on a journey that will take him to the very end of time and space. Use your ability to navigate 3D structures from 4 distinct classic 2D perspectives. Explore a serene and beautiful open-ended world full of secrets, puzzles and hidden treasures. Unearth the mysteries of the past and discover the truth about reality and perception. Change your perspective and look at the world in a different way. FEZ Pocket Edition is available for $4.99.

Playdead’s INSIDE

Playdead’s INSIDE expands on the foundation laid by its predecessor as a 2D puzzle platformer set in a beautiful, dark world. Features include gorgeous art and animations, incredible puzzle design, and a dark sense of humor. There’s not much more to say here—you just have to play it. You can play the beginning of the game to see if you like it; the full game will cost you $7. Supports Apple TV gameplay. Playdead’s INSIDE is available for free (with a single IAP).
